Lotus Notes 8 Intro

You don't necessarily need Domino Server. You need it, if you are making applications (databases) which are used simultaneously by multiple users.

Lotus Notes 8 Client can do almost everything what Domino Server 8 can (yes even database applications and web server), but also offline, on your own PC.
